Checklist before riding:
1. Prepare and check your equipment to be in perfect condition for the road (greased chain, correct tyre pressure, brakes, lights, gear, etc.)
2. Bring a repair kit (pump, etc.) and rely on yourself in case of an emergency.
3. Protect Yourself: Wear appropriate clothes for the corresponding road conditions and weather as well as protective gear (bright, rain protection etc.)
4. Inform Yourself & Others: Be aware of the biking route, distance and locations, and inform your family of your whereabouts for the day.
5. Be Realistic: Some routes may take longer or harder to do. For example, if you have personal commitments or are limited by time or simply not fit - you may not be able to ride! Do not take the road if you're sick!
6. Eat well - Prepare your body for the effort. Have a light breakfast without stuffing yourself! Riding over long distances or off-road trails burn a lot of energy.
7. Hydration: Bring enough water to avoid muscular strains on the road.
8. Before you leave home, get informed of prevailing weather, road conditions and traffic.
9. Make sure you have your mobile phone, fully charged and that you're reachable at all times.
10. Bring some cash, in case you run out of water, food or emergency.

During the Ride
11. On public roads, safety first!! Ride safe, be responsible and respectful to other road users! If there are no road reserves or emergency lanes or narrow road, avoid riding side by side, to chitchat as it reduces the road space for following vehicles to overtake us. Larger vehicles such as buses and trucks need more space to overtake. Give way where required and do not challenge other road users. Courtesy must prevail at all times. Remember we're the most vulnerable on the road and we're not protected. Insurance will not cover us in case of own negligence.
12. Look Back: When riding in groups, always check on your team at the back where it is possible. Remember that incidents happen all the time and when least expected.
13. Communicate Properly: If you have an accident or not able to ride, inform your group friends immediately by phone. Or if you're riding alone, inform your family in case of an emergency.
14. Stretch!! For long rides, pause/stop after 25-30km, take 1-2 minutes to stretch, hydrate properly and ride again. Regular / short pauses/stretching makes the ride more enjoyable and less painful. There is no point to put continuous pressure on your body, joints, muscle and back spine.

After the Ride
15. Upon arrival at the destination, make sure everybody else is safe and locate them. No one must be left behind. We start together and we go home together.
16. Stretch again and hydrate.
17. When you reach home, please take care of your bike, wash, grease and service if necessary.
And finally: We're all cycling enthusiasts; Let us enjoy and make the most of it.
