Gauteng: A 32-year-old Police Constable was shot while approaching a suspected stolen vehicle.

The incident occurred in Geba Street, Ext 6, Kagiso today approximately 14:00. It is alleged that a truck was spotted in the area, which was reported stolen in Krugersdorp.

The members allegedly stopped the vehicle and the Constable, who was in the patrol vehicle jumped out. Upon approaching the vehicle, his colleagues heard a gunshot and saw the member falling. The truck allegedly sped off.

In the next street, the same truck collided with a red VW Golf and the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The critically injured Constable was airlifted to a hospital.

Police have arrested one of the three suspects late this afternoon. A manhunt for the remaining two suspects has been launched.
