Five injured in head on collision outside Welkom

A head on collision on the Wesselsbron/Odendaalsrus road outside of Welkom this evening has left one person with serious injuries and another four with minor to moderate injuries.
It appears that one of the vehicles was overtaking and may not have been able to get back into their lane in time which caused the head on collision to take place. The double cab and sedan were both extensively damaged due to the force of impact and paramedics arrived on scene to find five people had been injured.
The driver of the bakkie was lucky to have come out of the accident with only minor injuries, while one man travelling in the sedan sustained a broken leg and the other three occupants moderate injuries. All five of the men received the necessary treatment on scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

N17 Emergency Response members were dispatched to an MVA on the R29 between Leandra and Eendracht, where two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.
All patients were assessed and treated on scene by medical personnel and were later transported to hospital for further medical care.
