Mi7 Medics responded to Prince Alfred Street house fire

02 April 2024 | From Arrive Alive

Earlier this afternoon, just after 3pm, Mi7 National Group's Emergency Medical Services was dispatched after reports of a structural fire in the Pietermaritzburg CBD.

Mi7's Rapid Response emergency unit - sponsored by BMW Supertech  - was sent to the scene.

They found community members using buckets of water to fight the fire - which they managed to extinguish - at a Prince Alfred Street property. Mi7 medics assessed community members, including a young child who was inside the house when the fire started, for injuries. Luckily, there were only cases of minor smoke inhalation which did not require further medical attention.

Pietermaritzburg firefighters arrived to dampen the house to prevent the fire from reigniting. It's unclear what caused the fire.

We applaud the brave community members who intervened to stop the fire from spreading.
