Body recovered from Tugela River Mouth

IPSS Search and Rescue assisted Mandeni Lifeguards in locating a drowning victim in the Tugela River Mouth.

The adult male went missing from a raft whilst in the River Mouth. PACSys drone pilot Elmar Vrey was called by IPSS Search and Rescue to assist in locating the man.

Intel was provided and the search began with a heavy tide being pushed in. The body was discovered via a drone 100m from the mouth.

The deceased was then brought to shore by Mandeni Lifeguards under the guidance of Elmar.

Many thanks to Mandeni Lifeguards, Rural Metro and to Elmar from PACSys. The use of the drone proved invaluable in finding the man's body and bringing his family closure before he got swept out to sea.

Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased.
