The Oudtshoorn Municipality has entered into another 9 Years & 11 months Service Level Agreement with TFASA (Test Flying Academy of South Africa) on Wednesday, 04 September 2024, after an open and transparent tender process to manage and operate the Oudtshoorn Airport on council’s behalf. Under this agreement, TFASA will act as the management agent while the Municipality remains the owner as well as the license holder. The municipal manager, Mr Walter Hendricks, signed the contract with Mr Jean Rossouw from TFASA.
Key aspects of the agreement include:
• TFASA will develop a comprehensive airfield master plan, a strategic business/marketing plan, and an Aerodrome Operations Manual.
• A Steering Committee will be established, consisting of representatives from TFASA, the Municipality who will oversee that the agreement is implemented as per tender specifications. This committee will oversee airport operations and meet regularly to ensure the airport's efficient management.
• All new applications for hangers or other developments on the airfield will be the responsibility of TFASA.
• TFASA will also be responsible for managing air traffic services, fuel supply, landing fees, and expansion plans for the airport.
This collaboration aims to improve the safety, security, and long-term sustainability of the Oudtshoorn Airport, positioning it as a key economic catalyst for direct and indirect investments in the town.
