The swift response and multi-disciplinary collaboration secured the arrest of ten suspected armed robbers.

On Saturday, 9 November 2024, crime intelligence driven information was received regarding a criminal group who had allegedly met at a residence in Christiana in the North West Province, reportedly to plan armed robberies at fuel garages in Warrenton in the Northern Cape.

At approximately 10:00, Crime Intelligence units, together with the Kimberley Flying Squad and Hartswater Highway Patrol, executed a tactical operation at the identified address in Christiana, where 10 (ten) suspects were found on the premises.

Upon further investigation, a pistol was found in the suspect vehicle, and several tools believed to be utilised in the commission of a crime were seized.

The 10 (ten) suspects between the ages of 40 and 65 years old, reportedly from the East Rand in Gauteng, were arrested.

Investigations into the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of suspected house breaking equipment, and the contravention of the Immigration Act are to be investigated.

A firearm and ammunition, tools, and a Volkswagen Polo 8, with an estimated value of R301 000-00, were seized.

Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola commended the team for their rapid response. She reiterated the importance of sharing information to enable law enforcement to apprehend perpetrators and prevent the occurrence of serious crimes.
