Resilient Police Officer continues search for suspect after being stabbed

Mi7 National Group's Armed Response and Emergency Medical Services teams were dispatched after reports of a housebreaking on Jesmond Road in Pelham.

This was after Mi7 Control Room Operators saw reports of the incident posted on a local community group. When the operators contacted the individual, she advised that two men were currently fleeing from a wendyhouse on the property which they had allegedly broken into.

Mi7 Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched, and while they were assisting the woman (who was housesitting for a Mi7 client) and assessing the property for the client, police and other security service providers were looking for the suspects.

It is believed that two officers from Alexandra police station were first to come across the suspects in Oribi Village. There, while making the arrest, an altercation allegedly ensued, and one officer was attacked with a knife. The other was allegedly bitten.

The suspects managed to get away in the frenzy.

Mi7 EMS and Armed Response teams were then sent to assist. Medics treated one officer for a stab wound to the arm. Both officers persisted, saying they would get further treatment once the suspects were caught.

They joined with Mi7 Armed Response teams, as well as several other security service providers, to continue the search.

Through these efforts, one suspect was found and arrested.

We applaud the dedication and resilience displayed by both officers.
