29 March 2025 | From Arrive Alive

At approximately 11:30 today (29/03/2025) reports of a light aircraft that crashed along the beach front in the vicinity of Virginia airport was received from Virginia Airport ATC.
Members were dispatched to the area and located the aircraft on a part of beach that could only be accessed by means of 4x4 or by foot through the mangroves.
It was later established that the pilot (single soul onboard) encountered engine trouble and could not make a safe landing on the runway ahead, therefore landing the aircraft on the sea shore.
No injuries were sustained by the pilot or civilians.
Members of SARZA together with Empire Protection Service assisted the aircraft owner to move the aircraft to higher ground and a decision to move off scene was made has the tide stared setting in for the safety of all involved.
Recovery of the aircraft will resume once safe.
A big thank you to all involved!
