The Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence Unit, in close partnership with specialised units, successfully conducted an operation on 15 April 2025, based on credible information received.
During this operation, a 43-year-old suspect was apprehended in Tempo, Tembisa, on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of suspected stolen property. The suspect was found in possession of a 9mm pistol, ammunition, a Metro police uniform, and a stolen Mazda CX5 vehicle.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Daveyton.
Major General Anna Sithole, Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, commended the members involved for their exemplary efforts. She emphasised that this operation showcases the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing, reiterating that the safety and security of our communities remain a paramount priority. The SAPS is committed to diligently disrupt criminal networks before they can inflict harm.
