On Wednesday 23 April 2025 at 14:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD)Community Liaison (CLU) Unit Officers, in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, arrested four(4) male suspects in the Leondale and Spruitview areas.
Following on information about a hitman involved in taxi violence, Officers proceeded to residence on Sweettthorn Crescent, Loendale. Upon arrival Officers found three(3) occupants in the vicinity, were a search was conducted and Officers uncovered one(1) Rifle with a defaced serial number and a Magazine hidden in the ceiling one of the rooms. Officers also discovered x31 live rifle ammunition and a black Bullet proof vest belonging to the SAPS.
While interrogating the suspects, information led the Officers to a residence on Sikhakhane Street, in Spruitview. Upon arrival , one (1) occupant was found in possession of x2 9mm pistols, with live ammunition, a magazine and x769 mandrax tablets, estimated at value of R350 000. Investigation continued and led Officers to the third residence in Windmill Park, were x4 9mm pistols and a 95 rifle with live ammunition were discovered.
The four (4) suspects facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of illegal substances were detained and expected to appear at the Palmbridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
