07 July 2025 | From Arrive Alive

Operation Shanela II continues to intensify their efforts to address the proliferation of drugs and this was evident during a success in Kharkams in the Kamieskroon policing area on 06 July 2025 at 23:00.

Members of Springbok POPS followed up on information received from the community with regards to a suspected drug house in Kamieskroon.

The team immediately responded and executed a search and seizure warrant at Berg Street in Kharkams in Kamieskroon during which a male person, aged 45 and a female aged 41, were arrested for dealing in drugs Section 140/1992 Art 5 (b) and Contravention of the National Credit Act.

Cannabis, mandrax and Tik with an estimated total value of R7 800-00 as well as bank cards, a cellphone and a substantial amount of cash were seized.

The cash is presumed to have been as a result of the sale of drugs.

The duo is expected to appear in the Springbok Magistrate's Court soon.

Police in the Namakwa District will continue to intensify its efforts to dismantle criminal activities within the region.
