Three armed suspects were fatally wounded in an operation involving the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS), SAPS Highway Patrol, and the Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing.

In 2024, TOMS received intelligence on armed suspects terrorising residents of Stoffelpark, Mamelodi East. One of the suspects was linked to the murder of the late Sgt Maja (TOMS).

In August 2025, a manhunt was launched for suspects connected to extortion, seven murders, and several cases of intimidation.

On 19 August 2025, the team acted on credible information and traced the suspects to Two Sisters Street, Extension 15, Stoffelpark. Upon arrival, the suspects opened fire on law enforcement officials. The team returned fire, fatally wounding three suspects, while one managed to evade arrest.

Both recovered firearms are suspected to be linked to multiple violent crimes.
