Three (3) Robbery Suspects Apprehended/Blank Firearm Recovered: Tongaat - KZN

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) apprehended three (3) robbery suspects, recovered a blank firearm and a vehicle used in the commission of a crime in Gandhi’s Hill, Tongaat - KZN this morning (Saturday).
Returning from an unrelated emergency involving a house fire, Reaction Officers observed a suspicious silver VW Polo without registration plates parked on Metcalf Road. One (1) individual standing beside the vehicle fled on foot upon noticing the approaching Response Vehicles, while the driver hastily attempted to flee in the vehicle.
One (1) Reaction Officer pursued and apprehended the fleeing individual on foot, discovering a replica firearm in his possession. Simultaneously, backup Officers intercepted and stopped the escaping vehicle.
While securing the scene, a female approached and reported that she had been robbed of her cellphone and wallet by the same men. Her belongings were found inside the vehicle. Despite the recovery, the victim declined to register a criminal case, citing her urgency to reach her place of employment.
Reaction Officers are currently (05:53) liaising with the Tongaat SAPS from KZN to establish if the males are sought for other crimes.

N17 Emergency Response members were dispatched to an MVA on the R29 between Leandra and Eendracht, where two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.
