N1 South closure after Maraisburg exit after a tanker crash

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) issues an urgent traffic advisory regarding a major incident on the N1 South highway.
A tanker crash has occurred on the N1 South after the Maraisburg exit. The tanker is understood to be loaded with paraffin, and diesel is currently leaking from the vehicle.
All lanes on the N1 South after Albertina Sisulu Road are currently closed off. Traffic is being diverted at Albertina Sisulu Road.
Law enforcement officials are on the scene, and emergency services are en route to manage the situation and clear the area.
Motorists should expect heavy delays on the N1 South and on alternative routes as traffic diverts.
All road users are urged to exercise extreme patience. Please use alternative routes such as Gordon Road or Ontdekkers Road to avoid the area.
