2 ladies driving a bakkie with canopy, suddenly noticed smoke and stopped the car.
The motor compartment started burning.
Very close by, DFW "Amstelhof" volunteer N.Joostenberg, saw the happening and called per radio the DFW commander who is stationed close by and who directed the 4x4 DFW tanker/ pumper fire truck to the scene.
In minutes the fire got estinghuised and it must be said, that bystanders assisted greatly already before, by putting sand and other material on the flames.
The DFW is very much involved in community upliftment and trained earlier this year already more than 45 fire and medical responders from various areas, with the idea, so that all these people can assist on and with the DFW trucks and use the lines right in their own communities.
This tactic has already proofed very successful for various reasons.
The vehicle this evening is badly damaged in the engine bay. The 2 females did not suffer any injuries or smoke inhalation.
