The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) wishes to inform motorists of a complete road closure currently in effect at the intersection of Crownwood Road and Rente Street in Ormonde.

This closure is due to an active crime scene. Law enforcement officials are presently on-site processing the area. For public safety and to preserve the integrity of the scene, the roadway will remain inaccessible until further notice.

Motorists should expect heavy delays on all routes approaching the Ormonde area, particularly the M1 Highway.

Crownwood Road is cordoned off between Rente Street and the surrounding blocks.

Traffic is being diverted by officers on the ground; however, secondary routes are already experiencing high volumes.

Motorists are strongly advised to seek alternative routes to reach their destinations.

They can use Xavier Street or the M1 Highway (Booysens/Gold Reef City exits) to bypass the affected intersection.
