Members attached to the Welkom Public Order Police Platoon 5, have arrested eight alleged drug dealers after illicit substances were found at various houses in Mmamahabane location.
On Sunday, 12 April 2026, while conducting their operational duties, members received information about drug-dealing operations in Ventersburg. Members instantly acted on the information, which led them to several identified houses.
Upon arrival at the first address, members found two males aged 30 and 32. Permission to search was requested and granted. While searching, members found drugs and money hidden in an ice cream container under the bed. The two suspects were arrested for possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.
Members then proceeded to the next address, where two males aged 19 and 25 were arrested after drugs, dagga, and money were found in their possession.
During the third incident, police arrested a 30-year-old female and a 25-year-old male. Police then continued to another house, where two males aged 23 and 21 were arrested.
During the search operations, police seized mandrax tablets, crystal meth, dagga, and undisclosed amounts of money believed to be proceeds of crime.
The eight suspects will appear in the Ventersburg Magistrate’s Court soon on their respective charges.
