Hijacked vehicle recovered in Umlazi

Durban Metro Police Highway Patrol members successfully recovered a hijacked motor vehicle on 26 May 2026 following information received from a vehicle tracking company.
At approximately 14h05, officers received information regarding a silver Toyota Starlet hijacked in the Isipingo area by three armed male suspects. The driver was reportedly taken hostage during the incident.
Acting swiftly on the information received, members recovered the vehicle abandoned and locked in the V Section Umlazi area at approximately 14h40.
The vehicle was towed to Umlazi SAPS for safekeeping and further investigation.
