A 55-year-old School Secretary was hijacked and sexually assaulted today (Thursday, 11/06/2026) after stopping to inspect her vehicle in Malvern, Queensburgh - KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded at approximately 12:07 near the Duffs Road off-ramp on the M25, Durban - KZN, after a member of the public reported a distraught female seated in a red VW Polo on the roadside.

The caller explained that he had stopped to assist the woman after noticing that she appeared distressed. She informed him that she had escaped from an armed suspect who had hijacked her vehicle.

The victim informed Reaction Officers that she was travelling to a bank to deposit a substantial amount of cash when she heard a noise from one of the tyres shortly after leaving her place of employment. She stopped at a bus stop to investigate when an unknown man approached her, produced a firearm and forced her back into the vehicle.

The suspect instructed the woman to drive in a southerly direction while repeatedly attacking her and subjecting her to a sexual assault. During the ordeal, he allegedly attempted to telephonically secure a buyer for the vehicle.

After failing to find a purchaser, the suspect directed the victim to KwaMashu - KZN where he exited the vehicle and boarded a white VW Polo (registration unknown). Before fleeing, he stole the bag containing the cash that was intended for banking and removed the victim’s bank cards from her wallet.

Shaken by the incident, the woman drove onto the M25 and stopped near the Duffs Road off-ramp where she was noticed by a passing motorist who rendered assistance.

The female was emotional, but not injured.
