Head-On Collision On Single Lane Bridge: Verulam - KZN

12 June 2026 | From Arrive Alive

Two (2) vehicles collided head-on on the single-lane steel bridge on Old Main Road in Verulam - KZN this afternoon (Thursday, 11/06/2026).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched at approximately 20:06 after a resident contacted the Operations Centre reporting that he had heard a crash.

On arrival, Reaction Officers found a white Toyota Hilux Double Cab occupied by two (2) men and a white Nissan Almera with one (1) male driver.

According to the driver of the Nissan Almera, he was travelling from Canelands - KZN towards the Verulam CBD and was unfamiliar with the road. Believing the bridge accommodated two-way traffic, he proceeded onto the single-lane structure as the Toyota Hilux approached from the opposite direction. The vehicles subsequently collided head-on. Front end damage was caused to both vehicles and the airbags in the Nissan Almera deployed.

No injuries were reported
