Jogger Struck By Detached Wheel: Ottawa – KZN

A 41-year-old woman sustained injuries after being struck by a wheel that detached from a grey Mercedes-Benz on Old Main Road in Ottawa – KZN today (Monday, 28 September 2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene by a passing motorist. On arrival, Reaction Officers were informed that the vehicle was travelling down the road when its left front wheel detached and struck the woman, who was jogging in the opposite direction.
The driver stated that he had left a tyre shop a few minutes earlier and suspected that the wheel had not been properly secured. His suspicions could not be immediately verified.
RUSA Paramedics assessed and stabilised the woman, who sustained injuries to her right thigh and pelvic area.
