Electronics Stolen In Suspected Remote Jamming Incident: Verulam – KZN

A Blackview tablet and a Samsung Note 10 cellphone were stolen from a blue Renault Kiger parked outside a fast food outlet in Verulam – KZN today (Tuesday, 29 September 2026).

The vehicle owner contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) after discovering the theft. He explained that he had parked his vehicle and entered the outlet with a friend.

According to the owner, the vehicle has a keyless ignition and a transponder card that automatically locks the doors when he walks a short distance away. On returning, he noticed that the locking mechanism clicked several times when he opened the vehicle.

While exiting the driveway, he attempted to make a call and noticed that the vehicle’s Bluetooth system could not connect to his cellphone. He stopped and searched the vehicle, discovering that both devices were missing.

There were no signs of forced entry or visible tampering with the locks, windows or window rubbers. The owner suspected remote jamming, although this could not be confirmed.

Motorists are urged to physically check that their vehicle doors are locked before walking away and to avoid leaving valuables inside unattended vehicles.
