Passengers Robbed During Attempted Hijacking: Waterloo - KZN

Two (2) passengers were robbed by armed suspects during an attempted hijacking on Python Road in Waterloo - KZN today (Wednesday, 30/09/2026).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene following reports of an attempted hijacking. On arrival, Reaction Officers interviewed the 22-year-old E-Hailing Driver.

He explained that two (2) men had privately requested transport to collect cash. They intended to return to purchase stock for their tuck shop.

While stopped at a store, a black Suzuki seven-seater with three (3) occupants blocked their white Ford Figo. Three (3) suspects, all armed with firearms, approached the vehicle.

A firearm was pointed at the Driver and the vehicle’s key was removed. The Driver managed to flee with his belongings. The two (2) passengers were robbed of two (2) Samsung A16 cellphones and approximately R6,000 in cash.

No injuries were reported
