Teachers and learners were left highly traumatised following an armed robbery and hijacking at a primary school just off Fernham Drive in Phoenix on Wednesday morning, 14 October 2026.

KZN VIP, together with other security companies and SAPS, responded after being alerted to the incident. Initial information indicates that suspects arrived in a blue Volkswagen Polo, robbed several members of the public and hijacked a white BMW before fleeing in it.

KZN VIP, Tracker South Africa and security partners worked jointly to locate the hijacked vehicle. As tracking teams and security partners closed in, the suspects reportedly crashed the vehicle down an embankment before abandoning it and fleeing the scene.

The vehicle was recovered. Unfortunately, no arrests had been made at the time of this report.

KZN VIP medics assessed the traumatised teachers on scene. We extend our support to the teachers, learners and everyone affected by this distressing incident.

SAPS will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
