One person has tragically lost their life and two others sustained serious injuries following a two vehicle crash along the M25 KwaMashu Highway near KwaMashu Crossroads.

KZN VIP Emergency Medical teams, together with multiple other emergency service providers, responded to the scene.

One person was found entrapped in the wreckage and, sadly, showed no signs of life. The individual was declared deceased on scene.

In the second vehicle, the driver was entrapped, while a passenger had also sustained serious injuries. Firefighters responded swiftly and carefully extricated the injured driver, working alongside medics to safely remove the patient from the vehicle.

Both injured patients were stabilised on scene before being transported under advanced life support care to nearby medical facilities for further treatment.

Traffic has been severely affected. Motorists are urged to approach the area with caution and allow emergency personnel space to work.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased and wish the injured patients a full recovery.

Our thanks go to all emergency services and role players for their swift response and coordinated efforts.
