The Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thabang Lesia, commended the teamwork and cooperation between the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality Fire and Rescue Service.
“I would like to express my appreciation for the continued cooperation and strong working relationship between SAPS and the Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality Fire and Rescue Service. Their swift response demonstrates their commitment to saving lives and serving our communities during emergencies.
“As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month in October, I urge parents, families and relatives to look after one another, particularly those who may be experiencing emotional or psychological distress. Life presents challenges, but we must stand
together, show compassion and support those who may be going through difficult times.
“We have also experienced incidents of children drowning in rivers amid hot weather conditions, as they seek relief by swimming. I urge parents and guardians to supervise children closely, keep them away from dangerous waterways and ensure that they are always safe. Let us work together to protect lives and prevent further tragedies,” said Lieutenant General Lesia.
