The Free State Department of Health wishes to inform members of the public that the Free State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) have strategically deployed resources across the province. EMS teams are fully prepared to respond swiftly to any emergency incidents that may arise.
While the emergency services remain ready to handle traditional incidents related to trauma, violence, and injuries, the Department is placing a special focus on the growing prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Our medical personnel are equipped to manage emergencies linked to conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension, high Cholesterol, and Cardiovascular illnesses, which continue to rise within our communities.
To ensure a safe day for everyone, the Free State MEC for Health, Mr. Monyatso Mahlatsi encourages all citizens to take their chronic medications on time before heading to the voting stations. Voters are also urged to stay hydrated throughout the day and to look out for children, the disabled, and other vulnerable members of society.
This comprehensive EMS plan is closely linked to our provincial hospital readiness strategy. Our hospital casualty wards are fully prepared to treat any admissions, with many regarded as centers of excellence. This includes the world-renowned Pelonomi Trauma Centre, backed by an excellent collaboration between public and private healthcare services to guarantee seamless care.
MEC Mahlatsi urges all eligible citizens to exercise their democratic right by going out to cast their ballots in the specific areas where they are registered to vote.
“We wish all residents a peaceful, safe, and incident-free voting day. Your health and safety remain our utmost priority” he concluded.
