Hijacked vehicle with stock recovered with stock in Winterveldt

On Thursday, 24 April 2025, at approximately 16:00, a white Isuzu delivery bakkie transporting vehicle parts was reported hijacked within the Loate SAPS policing precinct.

Members of the Online Intervention Task Team received a lookout alert for the hijacked vehicle. Although the tracking device had been activated, it was discovered that the signal had been jammed.

Working in collaboration with tracking and recovery agents, the members conducted a targeted search in areas known as hijacking hotspots. Following an intensive search, the vehicle was recovered in Winterveldt—abandoned, partially stripped, and found with the keys still in the ignition. The stolen stock was also recovered at the scene and returned to its rightful owner.

Crime Scene Specialists attended the scene to collect evidence that will aid in the ongoing investigation.

Major-General Samuel Thine commended the members for their swift response and dedication, encouraging them to continue their relentless efforts in the fight against crime.
